Our take on the Gianni Seater Sofa

The Gianni is a low, rounded two-seater upholstered in velvet-touch polyester over a solid wood frame, sold fully assembled. At 68.5 inches wide it seats two comfortably, and the 25.2-inch seat depth with foam and fibre cushions is built for lounging rather than upright sitting. Its 16.1-inch seat height and 1.6-inch leg clearance make it a low-profile piece that suits contemporary rooms. It is a style-led sofa, so check the velvet-touch fabric against pets and heavy daily use before committing.

Pros
  • Arrives fully assembled, no tools or building
  • Curved, rounded silhouette stands out from boxy sofas
  • Solid wood frame rather than particleboard
  • Generous 25.2-inch seat depth for lounging
  • Velvet-touch fabric at a mainstream price point
Cons
  • Polyester velvet-touch shows marks and needs care
  • Low 16.1-inch seat and back are hard to get up from for some
  • Only 1.6 inches of leg clearance, so robot vacuums may not fit under
  • Fibre-filled cushions need regular plumping to keep shape
  • Seats two, not three

Questions and answers

Is the Gianni sofa good for everyday sitting?
It is built for lounging: a low back, deep 25.2-inch seat and soft foam-and-fibre cushions. It suits relaxed TV seating better than upright support for long reading or working.
Does it really come assembled?
Yes. It ships as one piece in one box with no assembly required. Check the doorway and stair width against the 68.5-inch width and 39.8-inch depth before delivery.
How do I clean velvet-touch polyester?
Vacuum with a soft brush attachment and blot spills promptly with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh solvents, and test any cleaner on a hidden area first.
Will it fit through my door?
The sofa is 68.5 inches wide, 39.8 inches deep and 31.9 inches high as one assembled piece. Measure your narrowest doorway, hallway and stair turn, since it cannot be taken apart.
Is it a sofa or a loveseat?
It is listed as both. At 68.5 inches wide with a 65.7-inch seat width, it realistically seats two adults.
When is the best time to buy it?
Watch for seasonal furniture sales and compare across stores, since velvet sofas are often discounted around holiday events. Check the price history before buying.
