Is the Nest Cam Outdoor (Battery) worth it?

It suits anyone who wants a camera without wiring and already uses Google Home. If you want 2K video or free local recording, a wired or microSD-based camera is a better fit.

How long does the battery last?

Google rates it for months of typical use, but frequent motion alerts and cold weather shorten that. Expect to recharge it a few times a year in busy areas.

Does it record without a subscription?

You get live view and motion alerts for free. Recorded event history and longer clip storage require a Nest Aware plan.

Is it better than the older Nest Cam Outdoor?

Yes. The battery model installs anywhere without wiring and adds a magnetic mount, while the older wired model needs an outlet and cable run.

The camera, a magnetic mounting plate, screws and anchors, a charging cable and a quick-start guide. A power adapter is not included.

Battery cameras usually drop during Black Friday and spring sales. The current best new price is $120.95 at eBay as of November 5, 2026.
