Our take on the Google Pixel Fold
The Google Pixel Fold is Google's first foldable phone, a book-style device with a 7.6-inch inner display that folds down to a 5.8-inch outer screen. It runs on the Tensor G2 chip with Android 13 and a 4,821 mAh battery, and it is one of the heavier foldables at 283 g. Its price has moved well below launch levels, so the latest best price sits near the low end of its recent range.
- Large 7.6-inch inner screen good for split-screen apps
- Tensor G2 handles everyday tasks and Google's photo features well
- Solid triple camera for a foldable
- IPX8 water resistance, rare among foldables
- Dual-SIM and 5G with UWB and Wi-Fi 6E

Questions and answers
- Is the Pixel Fold worth buying now?
- At current discounted prices it is a reasonable way into a book-style foldable with a strong camera. If you want the lightest foldable or the fastest chip, newer rivals are better.
- How does it compare to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold?
- The newer model is thinner, lighter and faster, with a brighter screen. The original Fold is cheaper and still fine for everyday use, but it is heavier and runs warmer.
- How is the battery life?
- The 4,821 mAh battery lasts a full day with mixed use on the outer screen. Heavy inner-screen use and gaming drain it faster.
- Is the inner screen durable?
- It has an IPX8 rating for water but no dust rating, and the inner screen is soft plastic. Avoid pressing on it with sharp objects and keep grit away from the hinge.
- What is in the box?
- The phone comes with a USB-C cable and SIM tool; no charger is included. You need your own USB-C power adapter.
- When is it cheapest?
- Foldable prices drop around major sales events and when a successor launches. Watch the price history and buy when it sits near its recent low.
