Is the GoTrax Z4 Lite worth it for commuting?

For short urban trips under about 10 miles each way, yes. It folds, has a throttle and costs less than most folding e-bikes. If you need long range or a smooth ride, spend more.

How far can it really go on a charge?

The rated range is up to 25 miles, but that assumes low assist. With heavy throttle use expect closer to 12 to 18 miles. Charge time and battery size are worth checking before a long commute.

Can it fit in a car trunk or on a train?

Yes. The frame folds at the middle, and at 44 lbs it is manageable for a short carry. It fits in most hatchbacks and is allowed on many transit systems.

Does it have suspension?

No. The Z4 Lite has a rigid aluminum frame and fork. Wider tires help a little, but potholes and curbs will be felt.

What comes in the box?

You get the bike, charger and basic tools for assembly. Pedals and the folding hinge usually need minor setup out of the box.

Folding e-bikes like this tend to drop around Black Friday and end-of-season sales. Check the price history before buying at full price.

Our take on the GoTrax Z4 LITE Folding eBike

The GoTrax Z4 Lite is a folding aluminum e-bike with 20-inch wheels, a step-through frame and a 44 lb build. It pairs a throttle with 5 levels of pedal assist, tops out at 20 mph and is rated for up to 25 miles of range. No suspension and mechanical brakes keep it simple and cheap, which suits short city commutes and mixed train rides. It is a budget folder, so expect basic components rather than refined ride quality.
