Is the Gourmia Slim worth it for a first espresso machine?

Yes if you want a cheap, narrow machine for milk drinks and don't mind learning on a basic single boiler. Skip it if you want precise temperature control or plan to pull many shots back to back.

Does it work with pods or only ground coffee?

Ground coffee only. It comes with a portafilter, dual filters for single and double shots, and a scoop with a tamper.

How do I steam milk on it?

Use the built-in steam wand on the side. Because it is a single boiler, brew your shot first, then switch to steam and wait for the boiler to heat up.

How many cups can it make at once?

One or two shots per brew, up to about 8 cups total before you refill the 43 oz tank. The tank is removable for refilling at the sink.

The machine, portafilter, dual filters, scoop with tamper and accessories. You supply your own ground coffee and milk.

Our take on the Gourmia Slim Espresso Machine

The Gourmia Slim Espresso Machine (GCM3110) is a compact 20-bar pump espresso maker in a stainless steel body that is 12 inches tall and only 6 inches deep, so it fits narrow counters. It has a 43 oz removable water tank, a built-in steam wand for milk, an LCD with temperature control, a cup-warming surface and a removable drip tray. It ships with a portafilter, dual filters and a scoop-tamper. It is a budget home machine rather than a prosumer one.
