Do these lights need an outlet nearby?

Yes. They are plug-in and low voltage, so each run needs a cord to a power source. Plan placement around outlet distance.

Can they turn on automatically at dusk?

There is no dusk-to-dawn sensor. You can set schedules in the Govee app instead, but that depends on the app and your Wi-Fi.

Are they bright enough to light a walkway?

At 500 lumens with a 90-degree spot they light a focused area well. For a long path, expect to space several fixtures and accept some gaps.

Can they be used in rain or snow?

They are rated IP65, which covers rain and splashing. Keep the plugs and connections off the ground and protected.

Do they work with Alexa or Google Home?

Govee lights typically pair with Alexa and Google Home through the Govee app. Confirm voice support on the listing before buying, since it varies by model.

Our take on the Govee Outdoor Ground Lights

These are plug-in LED ground lights that stake into the yard and wash walls, paths or garden beds in color-changing light. Each set puts out 500 lumens with a 90-degree spot beam, and everything is controlled from the Govee app, including scene presets, DIY effects and a music mode that syncs the lights to sound. They are rated IP65 for rain and dust and run on low voltage. The best new price is $99.95 at eBay as of November 8, 2026, and only one store currently lists them new, so there is no meaningful recent price range to compare against.
