Our take on the Gracie Oaks Ecolounge Modern Freestanding Woven Rattan & Fabric Egg Swing Chair with Stand

The Gracie Oaks Ecolounge is a freestanding egg swing chair: a woven rattan basket with a fabric cushion, hung from its own curved metal stand so it needs no ceiling anchor. The 400 lb weight capacity is high for this category, and the stand lets you place it on a patio, deck or in a sunroom. It is a statement piece rather than a compact seat, so measure the footprint before buying.

Questions and answers

Is it worth it over a hanging egg chair?
If you cannot anchor into a ceiling or want to move the chair around, the included stand is the main reason to pay more. A hanging version costs less but needs a beam or a separate stand.
Does it really hold 400 lb?
The listed weight capacity is 400 lb, which covers most adults with room to spare. Keep the load balanced in the basket and check the stand's feet stay level on your surface.
Can it stay outside in the rain?
The rattan weave and fabric cushion are not built for constant wet weather. Put it under cover or bring the cushion in during rain, and expect the weave to fade with long sun exposure.
How much space does the stand need?
The stand is a wide curved base, so plan for more floor space than the basket itself. Measure your spot and leave clearance so the chair can swing without hitting walls or railings.
What is in the box?
The basket, the metal stand and the cushion are included. Assembly is required, and you will need basic tools.
When is it cheapest?
Outdoor furniture discounts cluster around end of season and holiday sales. Set a price alert and compare against its recent range rather than buying on the first markdown.
