Our take on the Greenworks 48V 16" Brushless String Trimmer ST1532AA1

The Greenworks ST1532AA1 is a cordless straight-shaft string trimmer with a brushless motor and a 16-inch cutting swath. It runs on Greenworks 48V batteries, which also power the brand's 48V mowers, blowers and chainsaws. At 8.6 lb it sits in the middle of the cordless trimmer class, and the straight shaft makes it easier to reach under fences and decks. Its best new price is $199 at Lowe's as of November 4, 2026, with five stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the Greenworks ST1532AA1 worth it?
Yes for anyone with a large lawn or existing Greenworks 48V batteries. At $199 at Lowe's as of November 4, 2026, it costs less than most 48V brushless trimmers and shares batteries with the rest of the line.
Does it come with a battery and charger?
It depends on the bundle. The ST1532AA1 is sold both as a bare tool and as a kit, so check the listing before buying. A 48V 2Ah battery gives roughly 30 to 45 minutes of light trimming.
How does it compare with a gas trimmer?
It matches most 25cc gas trimmers on power for home use and starts instantly with no mixing fuel. Runtime is shorter than a full gas tank, so keep a spare battery for large yards.
What size line does it take?
It uses 0.080-inch trimmer line on a bump-feed head. Thicker 0.095-inch line can be fitted but may reduce runtime.
Can I use other Greenworks 48V batteries in it?
Yes. Any Greenworks 48V battery fits, including the larger 4Ah packs, which add runtime but also weight.
When is it cheapest?
Greenworks trimmers usually drop during spring lawn-care sales and around Black Friday. The current $199 at Lowe's is close to the low end of its recent range.
Where is the Greenworks 48V 16" Brushless String Trimmer ST1532AA1 cheapest?
At Lowe's, for $199.00, 20% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Greenworks 48V 16" Brushless String Trimmer ST1532AA1?
Rated 4.1 out of 5 from 37 ratings.
Where can I buy the Greenworks 48V 16" Brushless String Trimmer ST1532AA1?
5 stores we checked sell it, including Lowe's, Greenworks, Walmart, Best Buy, eBay.
