Our take on the Greenworks 80V 25" Cordless Battery Dual Blade Self-Propelled Mower 3PC Combo Kit with 4.0Ah Battery

The Greenworks 80V 25" Cordless Self-Propelled Mower is a dual-blade battery mower with a stamped steel deck, push-button start, variable-speed drive and cruise control. It cuts a 25-inch swath, offers seven height settings from 1 3/8 to 4 1/16 inches, and bags or mulches. The combo kit includes two 80V 4.0Ah batteries, rated for up to 60 minutes of runtime and about 3/4 acre of coverage. It weighs 69.4 lbs, so the self-propelled drive matters on slopes.

  • Brushless motor and push-button start, no pull cord or oil changes
Cons
  • 69.4 lbs is heavy to push or lift when the battery dies

  • 80V batteries and replacements are expensive outside the kit
  • No side-discharge mentioned in the specs

What reviewers say

Owners of Greenworks 80V mowers generally report strong cutting power and easy starts, with runtime and weight as the recurring complaints. Reception of this dual-blade 25-inch model is thinner, so treat runtime claims as best-case.

Pros
  • Gas-like torque in thick grass
  • Simple push-button starting
  • Self-propelled drive helps on hills
  • Wide 25-inch cut shortens mowing time
Cons
  • Real runtime falls short of 60 minutes in heavy grass
  • Heavy machine to maneuver
  • Battery replacement cost

Questions and answers

Is the 80V 25-inch mower worth it over a gas mower?
Yes if you want no gas, oil or pull starts and already have or plan to build an 80V battery collection. A comparable gas self-propelled mower costs less up front and runs indefinitely on a can of gas.
How long does the battery really last?
Greenworks rates up to 60 minutes with the included 4.0Ah battery. Expect closer to 30 to 45 minutes in tall or wet grass, and use the second included battery to finish larger lawns.
How large a lawn can it handle?
Greenworks lists coverage up to 3/4 acre with the included batteries. That assumes normal grass and both batteries; dense or wet lawns will need more charging time.
Does it mulch and bag?
Yes. It bags and mulches, and the seven height settings run from 1 3/8 to 4 1/16 inches. Side discharge is not listed in the specs.
What comes in the combo kit?
The mower, two 80V 4.0Ah batteries and a charger. Confirm the charger type and any bag included before ordering.
When is the price lowest?
Cordless mower kits usually drop during spring lawn-care sales and end-of-season clearance in late summer and fall. Check the price history before buying outside those windows.
