Our take on the Half Price Drapes Alabaster Beige Signature Velvet Roman Shade

The Half Price Drapes Alabaster Beige Signature Velvet Roman Shade is a custom-made, unlined velvet roman shade in a soft beige tone, built for inside-mount installation with a left-side lift cord. It is sold to order by length, so the quoted 12-foot length suits tall windows or wide banks of glass rather than standard single windows. Velvet gives it a heavier, more light-blocking hand than linen or cotton roman shades, but the unlined build means it is not a true blackout. No current price or price history was provided, so check the live comparison before ordering.

Best forLiving rooms and bedrooms where soft texture matters more than full blackoutTall or oversized windows that need a made-to-length shadeRenters and owners who want an inside-mount look without drilling outside the frBuyers matching beige and cream interiors
Pros
  • Velvet face reads richer than typical polyester roman shade fabrics
  • Inside mount keeps the window trim visible and the shade close to the glass
  • Left-side lift cord suits windows where the right side is blocked
  • Made to the ordered length, useful for tall windows
  • Neutral alabaster beige works with warm and cool palettes
Cons
  • Unlined, so it filters light rather than blocking it
  • Velvet is a dust magnet and usually needs dry cleaning
  • Custom-cut shades are hard to return or resize if the measurement is off
  • A 12-foot length is heavy and puts load on the mounting hardware
  • Corded left lift is less convenient than a continuous-loop or motorized system

Questions and answers

Is this shade blackout?
No. It is unlined velvet, so it dims a room but lets light through, especially at the edges. For a dark bedroom, pair it with a blackout liner or a separate curtain.
How do I measure for an inside mount?
Measure the window opening width and height in three places and use the smallest figure. Order the exact opening size; the shade is cut to fit inside the frame.
Can I get it in a different length?
Yes. It is made to order, so the length is specified when you buy. The 12-foot figure is just one available size, not a fixed spec.
Is velvet hard to clean?
Yes, compared with cotton or linen. Vacuum it with a brush attachment and spot clean gently; most velvet shades are best dry cleaned.
Does the left-side lift mean I can't reverse it?
The cord is set on the left as configured. Check with the seller before ordering if you need a right-side or cordless lift.
When is the best time to buy?
Custom shades rarely discount deeply, but sitewide sales and swatch-first orders are the usual way to save. Compare the current quote against other velvet roman shade sellers before committing.
