About the Happy You’re Home House Warming Gift Set
A classic Appalachian housewarming gift, featured in New York Times Wirecutter!
"Everything in this beautifully artisanal housewarming gift set of bread, salt, and a broom is handmade in Kentucky with traditional methods. Even the box is a one-of-a-kind gift."
We met Jennings Brody, from Parker and Otis in Durham, NC, and she shared that a classic housewarming gift in Appalachia (and in Slavic and Jewish cultures a little digging revealed) is a gift of bread, salt, and a broom….so we made a set!
This traditional housewarming trio symbolizes wishes for a warm and joyful home: a broom to sweep away bad luck, bread so the home may always be fed, and salt for flavor in life and to preserve happiness and good fortune.
We wish you much luck, flavor and happiness with these gifts in your new home!
