Our take on the Harmony Audio HA-RS12 12" Vented Loaded Subwoofer Box

The Harmony Audio HA-RS12 is a pre-built 12-inch subwoofer in a vented (ported) enclosure, rated at 300 watts RMS with a 2-ohm final impedance. It is sold as a bundle with the HA-A400.1 mono amplifier and an amp wiring kit, so a buyer gets a matched sub-and-amp package rather than a bare driver. The ported box trades a little tightness for more output per watt than a sealed design. It suits budget builds where a single 2-ohm load is easy to drive.

Pros
  • Comes as a bundle with a matching mono amp and wiring kit
  • Ported enclosure gives strong output for 300 watts RMS
  • 2-ohm load is easy for most mono amps to drive
  • Pre-built box saves cutting and tuning a port yourself
  • Black finish fits most trunks and cargo areas
Cons
  • 300 watts RMS is modest for a 12-inch sub
  • Ported boxes take up more space than sealed ones
  • Bundled amp limits upgrade headroom
  • Loaded boxes are heavy and awkward to ship or move
  • No mention of a grille, so the cone is exposed

Questions and answers

Is the Harmony Audio HA-RS12 bundle worth it?
It is a reasonable entry point if you want a sub, box and amp in one order and plan to run about 300 watts RMS. Buyers chasing high output should look at a higher-rated sub and a separate amp.
What amplifier does the bundle include?
It ships with the Harmony Audio HA-A400.1 mono amplifier and an amp installation kit. Check that the amp's rated output at 2 ohms matches the sub's 300 watts RMS before you buy.
Will this fit in my trunk?
A 12-inch vented box is bulky, so measure your trunk or cargo area first and leave room for the port to breathe. Ported boxes need clearance in front of the port to perform properly.
Can I use my existing amplifier instead?
Yes, as long as it is stable at 2 ohms and delivers roughly 300 watts RMS. A more powerful amp risks overdriving the sub, so set gains conservatively.
What is in the box?
The listing describes a bundle with the loaded 12-inch vented sub box, the HA-A400.1 amplifier and an amp kit. Confirm the kit contents, such as power wire and fuse, before installing.
When is the price lowest?
Car audio bundles tend to drop during holiday sales and end-of-season clearances. Watch the price history on this page rather than assuming the current price is the floor.
