Is the Haurex Barracuda a good first automatic watch?

Yes, if you want a mechanical movement at a low price and don't mind a 43mm case. Expect to reset and wind it if you don't wear it daily.

How big does the 43mm case wear?

43mm is on the large side and suits wrists roughly 7 inches and up. On smaller wrists it will look and feel chunky.

Is $249.99 a good price for it?

It is the lowest of the four new listings as of November 7, 2026, so it is a reasonable buy. There is no deep discount to wait for.

Is it really water resistant?

It is listed as water resistant, which covers splashes and hand washing. It is not a dive watch, so don't swim or dive with it unless the caseback states a depth rating.

Does it need a battery?

No. It uses an automatic mechanical movement powered by wrist motion, so it needs winding if it sits unused.

What comes in the box?

Typically the watch and paperwork; strap or bracelet details aren't specified, so confirm with the seller before ordering.

Our take on the Haurex Italy Barracuda Men's Watch

The Haurex Italy Barracuda is a 43mm stainless steel men's watch with a black dial, automatic mechanical movement and water resistance. It is a chunky, sporty Italian-brand automatic aimed at buyers who want a mechanical watch without paying Swiss prices. At $249.99 at ShopSimon as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the low end of what the four new listings charge, so the current price is a fair entry point rather than a bargain spike.
