Is MIFARE Classic 1K secure enough for building access?
It is fine for low-risk doors like interior offices or lockers, but the Classic 1K cipher has been broken publicly. For exterior doors or sensitive areas, use MIFARE DESFire EV2/EV3 or HID iCLASS instead.
Will these work with my existing HID reader?
Only if the reader is a 13.56 MHz MIFARE reader. HID iCLASS, iCLASS SE and 125 kHz Prox readers will not read these cards. Check the reader model before ordering.
Can I print on these cards?
Yes. The gloss PVC surface is made for direct-to-card dye-sublimation printers such as Fargo, Zebra or Evolis models. Use a printer rated for standard CR80 PVC cards.
What is the card size?
It is a standard CR80 card at 8.57 x 5.4 cm, the same size as a credit card. It fits standard badge holders, lanyards and card printers.
What is in the box?
100 blank white gloss MIFARE Classic 1K PVC cards. No lanyards, holders or encoding are included; you program the chip yourself.
How does it compare to HID iCLASS cards?
iCLASS is HID's more secure, proprietary line and needs iCLASS readers. These MIFARE cards are cheaper and work with the broad base of MIFARE readers, but offer weaker security.
