Is the Speedgoat 6 GTX worth it over the regular Speedgoat 6?

If you run in rain, mud or cold wet conditions, yes: the Gore-Tex membrane keeps feet dry and the Vibram outsole is the same. For dry, warm trails the standard Speedgoat 6 is lighter and breathes better.

How does the Speedgoat 6 GTX fit?

It fits true to size for most runners in a medium width, with a snug midfoot and roomy toe box. Runners with wide feet or who wear thick socks often go up a half size.

Is it actually waterproof?

Yes. The Gore-Tex membrane blocks rain and splashes and keeps feet dry in shallow stream crossings. Water can still enter over the collar in deep water, and the shoe dries slowly once wet inside.

What is the drop and weight?

It has a 4 mm heel-to-toe drop and weighs about 10.6 oz in a men's size 8. That is a few ounces more than the non-GTX Speedgoat 6.

Can I use it on roads?

It works for road-to-trail runs and short pavement stretches, but the lugs wear quickly on asphalt. Keep it mostly for trails.

The best new price was $109.95 at Marathon Sports as of November 7, 2026, against a $170 launch list. Prior-generation Speedgoats and the non-GTX model usually drop further during seasonal sales.
