Questions and answers

Is the Rocket X 2 worth it at $175?
At $175 at ironmanstore.com as of November 5, 2026, it is a fair price for a carbon-plated racer. Buy it if you race or do fast workouts; skip it if you want one shoe for all runs.
How does it compare to the original Rocket X?
The Rocket X 2 uses a lighter PEBA foam midsole and a revised carbon plate for more energy return. It is generally seen as faster and more cushioned than the first Rocket X.
Can I use it for daily training?
It works for tempo runs and intervals, but the firm ride and lighter foam suit race day better. Most runners keep a separate daily trainer.
Does it fit true to size?
Runners generally take their usual HOKA running size. The race-fit upper is snug, so those between sizes may size up.
Is it good for overpronators?
No. It is a neutral racing shoe with no stability posting, so it suits neutral runners.
When is it cheapest?
Carbon racers usually drop after major race seasons and when a new model arrives. Track the price history here rather than buying at full price.
