Our take on the HOM 4K Portable Digital Camera 48MP with 16x Digital Zoom

The HOM 4K Portable Digital Camera is a budget point-and-shoot that claims 48MP stills and 4K video with a 16x digital zoom. It is aimed at casual snapshooters and vloggers who want a cheap all-in-one camera rather than a phone. The best new price is $80.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no price competition to shop around. At that price it sits at the low end of the compact camera market, where expectations for image quality should stay modest.

Questions and answers

Is the HOM 4K camera worth $80.99?
Only as a cheap starter or kids' camera. At $80.99 at Target as of November 4, 2026, it is one of the least expensive 4K-capable compacts, but a used phone will take better photos.
Is the 48MP resolution real?
No. The sensor is listed at 8MP, so 48MP stills are interpolated in software. Expect detail closer to an 8MP camera.
How good is the 16x zoom?
It is digital zoom, not optical. Zooming crops the image and softens detail, so keep it to short range.
What comes in the box?
Expect the camera and basic accessories only. The battery is listed as required and installed, so confirm a charger and memory card are included before buying.
Does it take a memory card?
It supports up to 128GB of storage. A card is usually sold separately, so budget for one.
When is it cheapest?
Only Target lists it new at $80.99 as of November 4, 2026, so there is no competing price to wait for. Watch for holiday sales.
Where is the HOM 4K Portable Digital Camera 48MP with 16x Digital Zoom cheapest?
At Target, for $80.99, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the HOM 4K Portable Digital Camera 48MP with 16x Digital Zoom?
Rated 2.8 out of 5 from 13 ratings.
