Our take on the Homicide: Life on the Street: The Complete Series DVD

This is the full seven-season run of NBC's Baltimore police drama, all 122 episodes on 35 discs, about 97.5 hours total. The series is known for its handheld camera work, bleak realism and an ensemble led by Andre Braugher and Kyle Secor. The set is Region 1 NTSC only, so buyers outside the US and Canada need a compatible player. At $49.99 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what this box set has sold for recently, with only three stores listing it new.

  • Cardboard sleeve packaging can scuff discs with repeated use
  • Region-locked, so it won't play on most European or Asian players
  • No notable extras promised in the listing

Questions and answers

Is this the entire series?
Yes. It covers all seven seasons, 122 episodes, on 35 discs, with a runtime of about 97 hours 34 minutes.
Will it play outside the US?
No. The discs are Region 1 NTSC, meant for the US and Canada. Most players in Europe, Asia and Australia won't read them without a region-free player.
Is it worth $49.99?
At about 41 cents an episode, it's a reasonable price for a complete series set. It's also near the low end of its recent range, so waiting is unlikely to save much.
Does it have subtitles or extras?
The listing confirms American English audio only. Subtitles and bonus features aren't specified, so assume the episodes as aired.
How does it compare with streaming?
Streaming offers HD where available, but the show rotates between services. Buying the set gives permanent offline access to every season.
When is it cheapest?
Complete-series DVD sets usually drop during Black Friday and holiday sales. The current $49.99 at Walmart is already low, so a deeper cut would be modest.
