Our take on the HOMLUX 70" Futon Sofa Bed with Adjustable Backrest

The HOMLUX 70" Futon Sofa Bed is a velvet-upholstered convertible couch with a split backrest, so each side reclines independently from upright to flat. The metal frame and 70-inch length make it a full-size sleeper for a studio, guest room or small living room. It is a budget-tier import futon, so expect firm seating and a thin mattress rather than sofa-grade cushioning. No current price was provided, so compare its listed price against other 70-inch split-back futons before buying.

Best forStudio and small-apartment owners who need one piece for sitting and sleepingGuest rooms used a few nights a monthShoppers who want an adjustable split backrest on a low budgetBuyers who prefer velvet upholstery over linen or microfiber
Pros
  • Split backrest lets two people recline at different angles
  • Folds flat into a 70-inch sleeper without a separate mattress
  • Velvet fabric feels softer than typical budget futon covers
  • Metal frame is lighter and easier to move than solid wood
  • Navy velvet hides stains better than light colors
Cons
  • Futon cushions are usually firm and thin for nightly sleeping
  • Velvet attracts lint and pet hair and needs spot cleaning
  • No storage compartment or hidden bedding space
  • Metal frames can squeak and shift over time
  • Assembly is required and the box is heavy

Questions and answers

Is the HOMLUX futon good for sleeping every night?
It works for occasional guests, but the cushion is thin and firm for nightly use. Most people add a mattress topper if it becomes a primary bed.
How does the split backrest work?
The back is divided into two sections, each with its own hinge, so one side can stay upright while the other reclines flat. Both sides fold down to make the sleeper.
What size is the sleeping surface?
It is 70 inches long, which fits most adults but is short for anyone over about 6 feet. The depth is also listed as 70 inches, so measure your room before ordering.
Does it come with pillows or a mattress?
No. The futon arrives as a frame and upholstered cushion sections; pillows, a topper and bedding are sold separately.
How do I clean the velvet cover?
Vacuum it with a soft brush attachment and blot spills with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the fabric, and check the care tag before using any upholstery cleaner.
When is the best time to buy it?
Futons like this usually drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Set a price alert and compare against other 70-inch split-back models before buying.
