Our take on the Hon 10500 2-Drawer File

The Hon 10500 is a 36-inch-wide wood desk in a mahogany finish, 29.5 inches high and 20 inches deep, with two file drawers and cabinet doors for storage. It is a full-size office desk rather than a compact writing table, so it suits a dedicated home office or a small business workspace. At $897.89 at Staples as of November 7, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against. Buyers should weigh that price against the desk's size and storage before committing.

Best forHome offices that need built-in file storageSmall business or reception desksBuyers who want a wood finish rather than laminateWork spaces with room for a 36-inch-wide desk
Pros
  • Two file drawers keep paperwork off the desktop
  • Cabinet doors add closed storage for supplies
  • 36-inch width gives room for a monitor plus writing space
  • Mahogany wood finish looks more formal than laminate
  • Standard 29.5-inch height fits most office chairs
Cons
  • At $897.89 at Staples as of November 7, 2026, it is priced well above basic writing desks
  • Only one new price is listed, so there is little competition to lower it
  • 20-inch depth is shallow for large monitors and keyboards together
  • Wood construction makes it heavy and hard to move alone
  • Brown mahogany finish limits matching with lighter office decor

Questions and answers

Is the Hon 10500 worth $897.89?
That depends on whether you need the file drawers and cabinet doors. If you only need a writing surface, a simpler desk costs far less. If you need closed storage in a wood desk, the price is in line with full-size office furniture.
How big is the Hon 10500 desk?
It is 36 inches wide, 29.5 inches high and 20 inches deep. That fits a monitor and keyboard, but the 20-inch depth leaves little room for a large monitor and paperwork at the same time.
Does the Hon 10500 have file drawers?
Yes. It has two file drawers plus cabinet doors, so it holds letter or legal files and office supplies out of sight.
What color is the Hon 10500?
It comes in a brown mahogany wood finish. Check the finish against your other furniture before ordering, since mahogany is darker than oak or maple.
When is the Hon 10500 cheapest?
Only one new price, $897.89 at Staples, was listed as of November 7, 2026, so there is no recent low to time a purchase around. Watch for office furniture sales in late summer and around the holidays.
Where is the Hon 10500 2-Drawer File cheapest?
At Staples, for $897.89, as of our latest check.
