Our take on the HP Chromebook 11A G8 11.6" AMD

The HP Chromebook 11A G8 is an 11.6-inch budget laptop running ChromeOS on a dual-core AMD APU with integrated Radeon graphics, 4 GB of DDR4 memory and 32 GB of eMMC storage. It is built for light web work: browsing, email, documents and video, with a 720p webcam and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. HP rates battery life at up to 10 hours on the non-touch display, and the 47.36 Wh battery is large for this class. At $62.50 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it sits far below what most new Chromebooks cost, so the price is the main draw.

Questions and answers

Is the HP Chromebook 11A G8 worth buying at $62.50?
At $62.50 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it is a low-cost way to get a new Chromebook for browsing, email and school documents. It is not worth it if you need local storage or run heavy web apps.
How much storage does it have, and can I add more?
It has 32 GB of eMMC storage, and most of that is used by ChromeOS. There is no easy internal upgrade, so plan on cloud storage or a USB drive or SD card.
How long does the battery last?
HP rates it at up to 10 hours on the non-touch display, with a separate figure of up to 8 hours listed. Real use with Wi-Fi and video will land closer to the lower end.
Can it run Windows apps like Office or Zoom?
It runs ChromeOS, not Windows. You can use web versions of Office and Zoom, and some Android apps from Google Play, but not desktop Windows software.
Is this model good for a student?
Yes for basic schoolwork: Google Docs, email, research and video classes. The small screen and 4 GB of RAM make it a poor fit for heavy design or coding work.
What comes in the box?
The laptop and its charger. It does not include a mouse, sleeve or stylus, and the screen is not touch-enabled.
Where is the HP Chromebook 11A G8 11.6" AMD cheapest?
At Walmart, for $62.50, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the HP Chromebook 11A G8 11.6" AMD?
