Is the HP Chromebook 11A G8 good for schoolwork?

Yes for web-based classwork, documents and email. It struggles with heavy multitasking or demanding apps, so keep expectations to basic tasks.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage?

No. The 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage are soldered and fixed, so buy with that limit in mind and rely on cloud storage or a microSD card.

How long does the battery last?

HP rates it at up to 10 hours. Real use is usually less, and on a renewed unit the battery may hold less charge than when new.

What comes in the box with a renewed unit?

Typically the laptop and a charger. Accessories and original packaging are often not included, so check the seller's listing before buying.

Is this Chromebook fast enough for video calls?

It handles basic video calls, but the A4 processor and 4 GB of RAM can cause stutter with HD video or several apps open at once.

When is the best time to buy it?

Prices on renewed education Chromebooks tend to dip during back-to-school sales and holiday periods. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.

Our take on the HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition (Renewed)

The HP Chromebook 11A G8 Education Edition is an 11.6-inch Chrome OS laptop built for classrooms and light office work. It pairs an AMD A4-9120C dual-core processor with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC storage, and its reinforced metal body weighs about 3 lb. The HD 1366 x 768 anti-glare screen and rated 10-hour battery suit web apps, email and documents rather than heavy multitasking. This is a renewed unit, so condition and battery wear vary by seller.
