Our take on the HP DeskJet 2855e

The HP DeskJet 2855e is a compact all-in-one inkjet that prints, copies and scans in color, with a 60-sheet tray and no auto duplex or document feeder. It is slow even for an entry-level inkjet: up to 7.5 ppm mono and 5.5 ppm color, with a 19-second first color page. At $59.99 at North State Signs & Printing as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, so the hardware cost is small and the ink is where the money goes.

Questions and answers

Is the HP DeskJet 2855e worth it?
For light home printing at $59.99 at North State Signs & Printing as of November 6, 2026, yes. If you print often, the slow speed and cartridge costs make a tank printer a better long-term buy.
Does it print double-sided automatically?
No. There is no auto duplex, so you flip pages yourself for two-sided documents.
How fast is it?
Up to 7.5 ppm in mono and 5.5 ppm in color, with about 19 seconds to the first color page. That is slow by inkjet standards.
Can it scan and copy?
Yes, it is a flatbed all-in-one with print, copy and scan. There is no automatic document feeder, so multi-page scans are one sheet at a time.
What ink does it use?
Two cartridges: pigment-based black and dye-based color. Budget for replacements, since buyers report the cartridges run out quickly.
How much paper does it hold?
A 60-sheet input tray and a 25-sheet output tray, with a recommended monthly volume well under its 1,000-page duty cycle.
Where is the HP DeskJet 2855e cheapest?
At North State Signs & Printing, for $59.99, 45% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
