Is the HP Pavilion 15-eg3000 good for everyday use?

Yes. The hexa-core Intel CPU, SSD and 1080p screen handle browsing, email, video and office work well. It is not built for gaming or heavy video editing.

Should I get 8GB or 16GB of RAM?

Choose 16GB if you keep many browser tabs or apps open at once. 8GB is enough for basic use but leaves little headroom.

Is 256GB of storage enough?

It covers Windows, apps and some files, but photos, games and video fill it quickly. The 512GB version is the safer pick for long-term use.

Does it have a touchscreen and fingerprint reader?

Yes. This model has a 15.6-inch 1920x1080 touchscreen and a fingerprint reader for Windows sign-in.

Only light or older titles at low settings. It uses Intel integrated graphics, not a dedicated GPU.
