Our take on the Humsure 70 Pints Dehumidifier for Basements with Drain Hose

The Humsure 70 Pints is a basement dehumidifier rated to pull up to 70 pints of moisture a day from spaces up to 4,500 square feet. It has a 1.38-gallon tank and ships with a drain hose for continuous gravity drainage, so you can skip emptying the bucket. It runs at a claimed 40 dB, quiet for a compressor unit of this capacity. At 16.5 x 12.1 x 20.7 inches it is a floor-standing box, not a compact closet unit.

Pros
  • 70-pint daily capacity suits large, wet basements
  • Drain hose included for continuous drainage
  • 40 dB rating is quiet for a compressor dehumidifier
  • 1.38-gallon tank gives buffer time between manual empties
  • Simple one-speed operation with few settings to manage
Cons
  • 3.6 out of 5 from 622 ratings suggests mixed owner experience
  • Single fan speed limits control over airflow and noise
  • Tank is small for the capacity, so hose drainage is near-mandatory
  • No pump, so hose drainage needs a floor drain or gravity slope
  • Bulky footprint at 20.7 inches tall

Questions and answers

Is the Humsure 70 pint dehumidifier worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you need high capacity on a budget and plan to drain by hose. The 3.6 out of 5 rating means you should weigh reliability reports against the price.
How does the drain hose work?
The included hose attaches to the drain outlet and runs to a floor drain or outside, letting water flow by gravity. There is no built-in pump, so the hose must slope downward.
What size room will it handle?
Humsure rates it for up to 4,500 square feet. In very damp or open basements, expect it to work harder and run longer.
How loud is it?
The listed rating is 40 dB, roughly library-quiet to soft conversation level. Real-world noise from a compressor unit is usually a bit higher.
How often do I need to empty the tank?
The tank holds 1.38 gallons, so in a wet basement it can fill within a day. Using the drain hose avoids emptying it entirely.
When is it cheapest?
Dehumidifiers usually drop in price outside peak humid months, in fall and winter. Check the price history before buying in spring or summer.
What do buyers say about the Humsure 70 Pints Dehumidifier for Basements with Drain Hose?
