Our take on the Hurricane Pro 3 High Velocity Metal Box Fan

The Hurricane Pro 3 is a high-velocity metal box fan built for moving a lot of air in a garage, workshop or grow space. It has three speeds, an adjustable-height stand and an automatic shutoff, and it runs on AC power. It is a utility fan, not a quiet bedroom fan: expect strong airflow and noticeable noise.

Questions and answers

Is the Hurricane Pro 3 worth it over a cheap plastic box fan?
If you need serious airflow in a garage or workshop, yes. The metal housing and high-velocity design outlast and outperform typical plastic box fans. For a bedroom, a quieter fan is a better fit.
How loud is it?
High-velocity fans of this type are clearly audible, and the top speed is the loudest. The lower speeds are more tolerable for a workshop but still not bedroom-quiet.
Can I use it outdoors or in a damp room?
It is a plug-in indoor fan, so keep it out of rain and standing water. It works well for drying a damp room as long as the fan itself stays dry.
What is in the box?
The fan, its adjustable-height stand and the power cord. It is plug-in only, so no battery or adapter is included.
When is the price lowest?
Utility fans like this tend to dip during spring and early summer promotions and around back-to-school sales. Check the price history before buying outside those windows.
