Our take on the HyperDrop Cart 5500-Watt Gas Inverter Generator

The HyperDrop Cart is a portable gasoline inverter generator rated at 5,500 watts, with a 3.2-gallon tank. The inverter design gives cleaner power for electronics and lets the engine idle down under light loads, which saves fuel and noise. At $1,099.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is the lowest new price among the two stores listing it. A 5,500-watt inverter at that price is cheap for the class, so check the running-versus-surge rating and warranty before buying.

Pros
  • Inverter output is clean enough for electronics
  • 5,500 watts covers most single-appliance and small-panel backup
  • 3.2-gallon tank means fewer refuels than small units
  • Cart frame and wheels make it movable
  • Low price for an inverter in this wattage class
Cons
  • Gasoline only, no propane or dual-fuel option
  • No electric start or remote listed
  • Loud at full load compared with closed-frame inverters
  • Heavier and bulkier than suitcase-style inverters
  • HyperDrop is a little-known brand, so parts and service are a question

Questions and answers

Is 5,500 watts enough for my house?
It runs a fridge, furnace blower, lights and a TV at once. Central AC or an electric water heater will exceed it. Add up starting watts for anything with a motor.
Is this inverter generator safe for laptops and TVs?
Yes. Inverter output is cleaner than a conventional generator's, so sensitive electronics run without the spikes that can damage them.
How long does it run on a tank?
The 3.2-gallon tank lasts roughly 8 to 12 hours at half load. Expect closer to 5 to 6 hours at full load.
Does it come with a transfer switch or cord?
No transfer switch is included. Plan on heavy-gauge extension cords or a manual transfer switch installed by an electrician.
Is $1,099.99 a good price?
It is the lowest new price across the two stores listing it as of November 4, 2026. Comparable 5,500-watt inverter generators usually cost more, so the price is strong if the unit holds up.
Can I run it indoors or in a garage?
No. Gasoline generators produce carbon monoxide. Run it outdoors, well away from windows and doors.
Where is the HyperDrop Cart 5500-Watt Gas Inverter Generator cheapest?
At Lowe's, for $1,359.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the HyperDrop Cart 5500-Watt Gas Inverter Generator?
2 stores we checked sell it, including Lowe's, eBay.
