Questions and answers

Does the RetroN 2 HD play original cartridges?
Yes. It has one NES slot and one SNES slot for original cartridges. It does not load ROM files from SD cards or USB.
What resolution does it output?
It outputs 720p over HDMI and lets you switch between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios. There is no 1080p option.
What is in the box?
The console, two wired controllers, an HDMI cable and a power adapter. Controllers plug into the front ports.
Can I use original NES or SNES controllers?
The ports accept original-style controllers, so most NES and SNES pads work. Wireless controllers need a separate adapter.
Is it worth it over an original console?
It is cheaper and simpler than modding an original console for HDMI, but you give up save states and perfect audio accuracy. Buy it to play carts casually, not for pixel-perfect preservation.
When is it cheapest?
The $76.45 eBay listing as of November 4, 2026 is near the bottom of its recent range. Prices tend to dip around Black Friday and the holidays.
