Is the Ibanez AEG50L worth it?

For a left-handed player who mostly plugs in, yes. It is comfortable, has a built-in tuner and costs far less than most left-handed acoustic-electrics. If you need loud unplugged volume, a solid-top guitar is a better spend.

Does it have a solid top?

No. The spruce top is laminated, as are the okoume back and sides. That keeps the price down but limits acoustic projection compared with solid-top guitars.

What comes in the box?

The guitar strung with Ibanez .012–.053 steel strings. A case or gig bag is not included, so budget for one.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. The slim body, cutaway and built-in tuner suit new players, and the 43 mm nut is comfortable for most hands.

Its best new price is $349.99 at Adorama as of November 7, 2026, near the top of its recent range. Watch for drops below that before buying.

How does it compare with the AEG10?

Both are thinline AEG acoustics with similar electronics. The AEG50L is the left-handed option, so right-handed AEG10 reviews are a rough guide only.

Our take on the Ibanez AEG50L Acoustic-Electric Guitar

The AEG50L is Ibanez's left-handed entry into its AEG thinline acoustic-electric line: a spruce-topped, okoume-backed cutaway with a slim nyatoh neck and a built-in tuner. It is a stage-friendly, feedback-resistant design rather than a big-bodied strummer. At $349.99 at Adorama as of November 7, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment.
