Our take on the Interphone Mesh U-COM 8R Intercom

The Interphone U-COM 8R is a motorcycle helmet intercom that uses a mesh network so riders can talk to each other without pairing each unit one by one. It also works over Bluetooth for phone calls, music and GPS prompts, and the mesh link keeps working as riders spread out and rejoin. At $188.81 at The Visor Shop as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent new-price range across the four stores that carry it.

Questions and answers

Is the U-COM 8R worth it over a plain Bluetooth intercom?
Yes if you ride in groups. Mesh lets several riders join one conversation without pairing each unit, which plain Bluetooth intercoms cannot do.
How many riders can join the mesh group?
Interphone rates the mesh link for group riding, and the practical number depends on spacing and terrain. Riders farther apart or behind hills drop out first.
Can I take phone calls and hear GPS while on mesh?
Yes. Bluetooth carries phone and navigation audio, and the mesh channel stays open for rider talk.
Does it work with other brands' mesh intercoms?
Mesh compatibility varies by brand and protocol. Check that your riding partners use Interphone mesh units or a compatible system before relying on it.
What comes in the box?
The kit includes the control unit, helmet speakers, microphone and mounting hardware. Check the listing for the exact clamp or adhesive mount included.
When is the price lowest?
The current $188.81 at The Visor Shop as of November 5, 2026 is already near the bottom of its recent range. Watch for seasonal riding-gear sales for further drops.
