Is the Roomba Combo i5 worth it?

It is a reasonable pick if most of your floors are hard and you want one robot to vacuum and mop. If you have wall-to-wall carpet or want a self-emptying base, spend more on a j-series Combo.

Does it really mop, or just wipe?

It drags a dampened pad and lifts it when it detects carpet. That handles light dust and spills, but it is not a scrubbing mop and won't replace a deep clean.

Does it come with a self-emptying base?

No. This configuration charges on a standard base and you empty the bin yourself. Self-empty bases come with the Combo j7+ and j9+ models.

How does it compare with the Roomba j7+?

The j7+ adds a self-emptying base and better obstacle avoidance but costs more and does not mop. The Combo i5 trades those for a lower price and a mop pad.

The robot, a charging base, one mop pad and a line cord. Extra mop pads are sold separately.

Robot vacuums like this one tend to drop during Black Friday, Prime Day and back-to-school sales. Check the price history before buying at full price.

Our take on the iRobot Roomba Combo i5 Robot Vacuum & Mop

The iRobot Roomba Combo i5 is a robot vacuum that also mops, using a retractable mop pad that lifts when it senses carpet. It self-charges, runs from the iRobot Home app, and works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. It sits in iRobot's mid-range: cheaper than the Combo j7+ and j9+ but without a self-emptying base in this configuration. Its rating of 3.4 out of 5 from 74 ratings is middling for the category.
