Our take on the iVANKY Ultra-Slim Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 5000mAh

The iVANKY Ultra-Slim Magnetic Wireless Power Bank is a 5000mAh battery that snaps onto the back of a MagSafe-compatible iPhone and charges it wirelessly, with a slim profile meant to stay attached during use. Its small capacity adds roughly one full phone charge at best, so it suits top-ups rather than a full day off the grid. The latest best price is $39.99 at Amazon as of November 3.

Questions and answers

Is it worth it?
If you want a slim magnetic battery for top-ups, yes. If you need to recharge a phone fully more than once, a larger 10000mAh model is a better buy.
How many charges will it give my iPhone?
About one, and often less after wireless losses. Expect roughly 60 to 80 percent of a phone charge in practice.
Does it work with a phone case?
It works with MagSafe-compatible cases. Thick or non-magnetic cases weaken the hold and can slow charging.
What is in the box?
The power bank and a USB-C cable. A wall adapter is not included.
When is it cheapest?
Magnetic power banks tend to drop during Prime Day, Black Friday and back-to-school sales. It was $39.99 at Amazon as of November 3.
What do buyers say about the iVANKY Ultra-Slim Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 5000mAh?
