Our take on the Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus Portable Power Station

The Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus is a large home-backup power station with a 5,040Wh LiFePO4 battery and 7,200W surge output through 12 outlets. It runs on-line, so it can double as a UPS for sensitive gear, and it accepts solar, wall and generator charging. At $3,149 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, and only two stores list it new.

Questions and answers

How long will it run a refrigerator?
A typical fridge draws roughly 1-2 kWh a day, so the 5,040Wh battery can cover a day or more, depending on size and cycling. Heavy loads like a well pump shorten that considerably.
Can it power a whole house?
It can run selected circuits through a transfer switch, including 240V appliances, but not an entire house at once. Plan which loads matter most during an outage.
How does it compare to the Explorer 3000 Pro?
The 5000 Plus roughly doubles capacity and adds 240V output, at a much higher price and weight. Choose it only if you need 240V appliances or longer runtime.
How long does it take to recharge?
Wall charging is the fastest route, while solar depends on array size and sun. Expect several hours even with a large solar setup.
Is it worth $3,149?
If you need 240V backup and long runtime, it is competitive at that price. For smaller loads, a cheaper expandable station costs far less.
Where is the Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus Portable Power Station cheapest?
At B&H Photo-Video-Audio, for $3,149.00, as of our latest check.
