Our take on the Jackson Kayak Knarr FD Fishing Kayak

The Knarr FD is Jackson's 14-foot, two-person sit-on-top fishing kayak built around a pedal drive, so both paddling and hands-free pedaling are options. It carries up to 425 lb across two riders and gear, with a storage hatch and a wide, stable hull. The trade-off is weight: at 158 lb it needs a trailer or a strong team to car-top. The best new price is $3,499 at Eco Fishing Shop as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.

Pros
  • Pedal drive leaves hands free for casting and netting
  • 425 lb capacity covers two adults plus tackle
  • 14 ft hull tracks well and stays stable
  • Storage hatch keeps gear dry and organized
  • Seats two, so one boat serves a pair of anglers
Cons
  • 158 lb is too heavy to car-top alone
  • Only one store lists it new, so little price competition
  • 14 ft length is awkward to store and transport
  • Pedal drive adds maintenance and cost over a paddle kayak
  • Two-person rig is a lot of boat for a solo angler

Questions and answers

Is the Knarr FD worth $3,499?
If you fish with a partner and want a pedal drive, it is a fair price for a 14-foot two-person fishing kayak. Solo paddlers will get more value from a lighter one-person boat.
How do I transport a 158 lb kayak?
Plan on a trailer or a truck bed with help. Car-topping 158 lb alone is not realistic for most people.
Can one person paddle the Knarr FD?
Yes, but it is a large two-person hull. A solo paddler will work harder to move and turn it than a dedicated one-person kayak.
Does it come with the pedal drive?
The FD in the name means it is sold with the pedal drive system. Confirm the drive and any accessories are included with the listing before you buy.
How much weight can it carry?
The maximum capacity is 425 lb, which covers two riders plus rods, tackle and a cooler.
When is it cheapest?
Only one store lists it new at $3,499 as of November 4, 2026, so there is little room to compare. Watch for end-of-season kayak sales in fall.
Where is the Jackson Kayak Knarr FD Fishing Kayak cheapest?
At Eco Fishing Shop, for $3,499.00, as of our latest check.
