Our take on the JBL PRX908 8" Powered Loudspeaker

The JBL PRX908 is an 8-inch two-way powered PA speaker rated at 2,000 W peak, with Bluetooth, XLR and AUX inputs and a 55 Hz to 20 kHz range. It is the smallest cabinet in JBL's PRX900 line, built for DJs and small gigs that need a light, loud box with wireless control. At $699 at Guitar Center as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the top of its recent range, so it is not a bargain moment.

  • $699 is the high end of its price history
  • Peak wattage overstates real continuous output

Questions and answers

Is the PRX908 worth $699?
It is a well-built JBL with Bluetooth and app control, but $699 at Guitar Center as of November 4, 2026 is the top of its recent range. If you do not need wireless control, cheaper 8-inch powered speakers do the same job.
Do I need a subwoofer with the PRX908?
For DJ sets and dance music, yes. The 8-inch woofer reaches 55 Hz, which covers vocals and most instruments but not deep bass.
How does it compare with the PRX912?
The PRX912 uses a 12-inch woofer and plays louder and lower, at a higher price and weight. The PRX908 suits small rooms and monitors; the PRX912 suits bigger crowds.
What is in the box?
The speaker and a power cable. Stands, covers and cables are sold separately.
Can I stream music to it over Bluetooth?
Yes. It has Bluetooth plus XLR and AUX inputs, so you can stream from a phone or plug in a mixer or DJ controller.
When is it cheapest?
Prices on the PRX908 move with retailer sales, and $699 is currently the best new price across three stores. Watch for holiday and back-to-school promotions.
Where is the JBL PRX908 8" Powered Loudspeaker cheapest?
At Guitar Center, for $699.00, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the JBL PRX908 8" Powered Loudspeaker?
