Is the Jellycat Smudge Elephant safe for a newborn?

Yes. It is labeled for ages 0 and up, so it can be given as a first toy. As with any plush, keep it out of the crib for unsupervised sleep.

How big is the Smudge Elephant?

It stands about 13.4 inches tall, roughly 34 cm. That is large enough to hug but small enough for a toddler to carry.

Can I machine wash it?

No. Jellycat recommends surface washing or hand washing only, then air drying. Machine washing can damage the fur and filling.

How does it compare with other Jellycat elephants?

The Smudge line is floppier and shaggier than the smoother Bashful and Fuddlewuddle elephants. Choose Smudge if you want a slouchy, huggable shape.
