Our take on the Joystar Brockway Freestyle 24 inch Kids BMX Bike

The Joystar Brockway Freestyle is a 24-inch BMX bike built for riders around 4'6" and up, with a hi-ten steel frame, single-speed drivetrain and caliper brakes. It is a freestyle-style bike, so it suits park riding, street cruising and tricks rather than long-distance commuting. The 24-inch wheels make it a step up from a 20-inch kids BMX, giving taller kids and young teens a better fit. It requires assembly out of the box.

Questions and answers

Is the Joystar Brockway Freestyle worth it?
For a budget 24-inch freestyle BMX, yes. It gives taller kids a proper step up from a 20-inch bike without the cost of a chromoly model. Riders who want to race or do serious park riding may want a lighter bike.
What height rider does the 24-inch Brockway fit?
Joystar lists a height range starting around 4'6". The 24-inch wheels suit kids and young teens who have outgrown a 20-inch BMX, roughly ages 8 to 13 depending on build.
How does it compare with a 20-inch kids BMX?
The 24-inch wheels roll faster and fit taller riders, and the frame is longer. It is heavier and less flickable for small riders, so a 20-inch bike is still better for younger or shorter kids.
Does it come assembled?
No. Assembly is required, typically including the front wheel, handlebars, seat and pedals. Plan on adjusting the caliper brakes and checking bolt torque before the first ride.
Is it good for tricks and jumps?
It is built as a freestyle BMX, so it handles basic park and street tricks. The hi-ten steel frame is strong but heavier than chromoly, which matters for more advanced riders.
When is the best time to buy it?
Kids' bikes often see discounts in late fall and winter, outside the spring and holiday buying peaks. Check the price history on this page to see where the current price sits against its recent range.
