Is the K&N filter really MERV 13?

The product title and description say MERV 13, but the spec sheet on the listing says MERV 11. Confirm the rating on the filter packaging before buying if MERV level matters for your allergies.

Is 12x24x1 the right size for my furnace?

Measure the filter slot, not the old filter, and check the nominal size printed on your current filter. The listing also shows metric dimensions that do not match 12x24x1, so verify before ordering.

How often do I wash it?

K&N recommends washing when the media looks loaded, typically every 1 to 3 months depending on pets and dust. Rinse from the clean side, let it dry completely, then reinstall.

Will MERV 13 hurt airflow in my system?

MERV 13 is denser than basic filters and can raise static pressure. If your blower is marginal or the filter slot is undersized, a lower MERV rating may be the safer choice.

Over several years it can cost less than buying disposable filters every month or two, and the lifetime warranty adds value. The math depends on how often you would otherwise replace disposables.

One washable K&N HVAC filter. No gaskets are included, so reuse any frame or gasket your current setup uses.

Our take on the K&N HVAC Filter 12 X 24 X 1 Merv 13

The K&N 12x24x1 is a washable, reusable furnace filter with pleated synthetic media rated MERV 13. It is aimed at homes with pets or allergy sufferers, and K&N backs it with a limited lifetime warranty for the life of the HVAC unit. The best new price is $59.99 at Amazon as of November 7, 2026, with 5 stores listing it new. That is a high upfront cost against disposable filters, but it is a one-time buy rather than a monthly replacement.
