Our take on the Kamogawa Kago Woven White Bamboo Wall-Hanging Flower Vase, Jubishi

The Kamogawa Kago Jubishi is a hand-woven white bamboo wall vase, 400 mm square and 40 mm deep, meant to hang flat against a wall and hold cut stems. Its split-bamboo weave is flexible and bendable, so it presses to the wall and can be shaped slightly. It ships in a gift box, which makes it a common housewarming or host gift. No current price or price history was supplied, so there is no recent range to compare against.

  • Comes in a gift box, ready to give
Cons

Questions and answers

Is it worth buying?
If you want a lightweight, natural wall piece that holds a few stems, yes. It is decor first and a vase second, so do not expect it to hold a large, heavy bouquet.
How do I keep water from ruining the bamboo?
Use a small glass or plastic tube inside the weave and take it out before refilling. Never pour water straight into the bamboo; it will stain and soften the fibers.
How big is it on the wall?
It is 400 mm wide and 400 mm tall, about 16 inches square, and 40 mm deep. That is roughly the size of a large record sleeve.
What is in the box?
The woven vase itself in a gift box. No liner, glass or mounting hardware is listed, so plan on your own hook or nail and a small water tube.
Where should I hang it?
Indoors, on a dry wall away from direct steam and rain, such as a hallway, bedroom or covered entry. Bathrooms and outdoor walls will shorten its life.
When is it cheapest?
Bamboo craft pieces like this usually dip outside gift season, in late winter and midsummer. Check the price history before buying near holidays, when gift-boxed items peak.
