Our take on the Kase 8mm Fisheye Lens III for M17 Mount iPhone Cases

The Kase 8mm Fisheye Lens III is a fixed-focus prime fisheye for iPhone, built to clip onto Kase's M17 magnetic phone cases. It delivers a 200-degree field of view, wider than the roughly 180 degrees of most phone fisheyes, in an aluminum barrel. It is manual-only: no autofocus, no electronics, no app. At $79.95 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 7, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Best foriPhone shooters who already own a Kase M17 caseSkate, surf and street photographers wanting an ultra-wide lookCreators making 360-style or distorted-perspective videoBuyers who want a metal-bodied lens over plastic clip-ons
Pros
  • 200-degree field of view is wider than typical 180-degree phone fisheyes
  • Aluminum body holds up better than plastic clip-on lenses
  • Fixed focus means nothing to adjust: point and shoot
  • Small and light enough to leave on the phone
  • Works with the M17 case mount, so it aligns consistently
Cons
  • Only fits Kase M17 cases, so the case is an extra cost
  • Fixed focus and no electronics: no autofocus, no EXIF data
  • Fisheye distortion is baked in; no way to switch to a rectilinear view
  • Manual mounting means no lens correction in the native camera app
  • Single store listing at $79.95, so no price competition

Questions and answers

Do I need a special case to use this lens?
Yes. It mounts on Kase's M17 case system for iPhone, so the case is required and sold separately. It will not clip onto a bare iPhone or a generic case.
Is 200 degrees wider than other phone fisheye lenses?
Yes. Most phone fisheye attachments cover about 180 degrees. The extra width gives a stronger wrap-around look and more of the scene in frame, with heavier distortion at the edges.
Does it autofocus?
No. It is a fixed-focus lens, so everything from close range to infinity is roughly in focus. You frame and shoot; there is nothing to adjust.
Will the photos look corrected in the iPhone camera app?
No. The iPhone does not recognize this lens, so you get the raw fisheye distortion. You can straighten it later in editing apps if you want a less curved look.
Is $79.95 a good price?
It is the only new price listed, at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 7, 2026, so there is no recent range to judge against. Compare it with the cost of the M17 case, since you need both.
What comes in the box?
The lens and a mounting bracket. The M17 case is not included.
Where is the Kase 8mm Fisheye Lens III for M17 Mount iPhone Cases cheapest?
At B&H Photo-Video-Audio, for $79.95, as of our latest check.
