Is this shoe good for running or the gym?

No. It is a fashion sneaker with a haircalf upper and a cotton insole. Use it for casual wear, not exercise.

How does haircalf hold up in wet weather?

Poorly. Haircalf is calfskin with the hair left on, and water can spot or mat it. Keep it out of rain and snow.

What size should I order?

The round toe and lace closure give an adjustable fit, but there is no size guidance in the listing. Try your usual kate spade size and check the store's return policy before ordering.

Is $205.20 a good price?

Only one store lists it new at $205.20 as of November 4, 2026, so there is no lower competing price to compare. Watch for seasonal markdowns if you are not in a hurry.

What is the heel height?

1.06 inches, a low lift that keeps the sneaker look while adding a little height.

Our take on the kate spade new york K As in Kate Downtown Leopard Haircalf Runner

The kate spade new york K As in Kate Downtown Leopard Haircalf Runner is a low-top lace-up sneaker in leopard-print haircalf leather with a round toe, terry cloth lining and a rubber sole. The 1.06-inch heel gives it a little lift over a flat trainer. It is a fashion sneaker, not a running shoe. The best new price is $205.20 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no meaningful recent price range to compare against.
