Is the DAX8000S worth $749?

It is the best new price across 7 stores as of November 8, 2026, but that is the top of its recent range. You are paying for wireless CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in GPS on an 8-inch HD screen. If you do not need wireless or navigation, a cheaper wired unit does the same core job.

Does it work with both iPhone and Android?

Yes. It supports wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so most modern phones connect either way. Waze is listed among supported apps.

Kenwood lists a GPS antenna, a video/camera harness, a preout/aux harness and a remote control. A vehicle-specific direct plug-in wiring harness and dash kit are not included and usually must be bought separately.

It is a 1-DIN separate-chassis design with a flush-mount screen, so the dash needs room for both the screen and the hideaway chassis. Check your vehicle's dash kit and wiring adapter before buying.

Can I add a backup camera and satellite radio?

Yes. It has a dedicated rear camera input and a video output, and it is SiriusXM-ready with a separate tuner and subscription. HD Radio is built in.

Can I use it on a boat?

No. Kenwood lists it as not suitable for boats; it is designed for car and truck dash installations.
