Our take on the Keywhat Modern Fluted Queen Size Bed Frame with Headboard & Storage Footboard, Built-in Drawers & Lift-Up Gas Struts

The Keywhat is a queen platform bed with a fluted, channel-tufted headboard, a lift-up gas-strut base and built-in drawers in the footboard. It holds up to 800 lb and needs no box spring, so a mattress sits straight on the frame. Adjustable feet help it sit level on uneven floors. It is a storage-first frame for small bedrooms, not a premium piece.

Pros
  • Lift-up base gives full access to the space under the mattress
  • Footboard drawers add storage without a separate dresser
  • 800 lb weight capacity is high for a queen platform
  • No box spring needed
  • Adjustable feet compensate for uneven floors
Cons
  • Gas struts and drawer hardware are the parts most likely to fail
  • Assembly is required and the frame is heavy to move
  • Fluted headboard design limits bedding and decor styles
  • Lift-up mechanism needs clearance above the bed to open fully

Questions and answers

Is the Keywhat fluted queen bed frame worth it?
If under-bed storage is your priority and you are comfortable assembling furniture, it covers headboard, platform and drawers in one purchase. At 3.1 out of 5 from 10 ratings, check the return policy before buying.
Does it need a box spring?
No. It is a platform frame, so a queen mattress goes directly on the slats. A box spring would add height and is not required.
How much weight does it hold?
The listed maximum load is 800 lb, which is generous for a queen platform. That figure covers the frame, not the lift-up struts, which are for raising the mattress, not for sitting on while open.
How much clearance does the lift-up base need?
The mattress tilts up on gas struts, so leave room above the headboard to open it fully. Measure your ceiling height and any wall art before placing the bed.
What is in the box?
The frame, headboard, footboard drawers, slats and gas-strut hardware ship flat in one or more boxes. A mattress and bedding are not included, and assembly tools are usually limited, so have a screwdriver and a helper ready.
When is it cheapest?
Bed frames like this tend to drop during major sales events and at the end of the season. Compare the current price against its recent range on this page before buying.
