Questions and answers

Is this a good first drum set for a child?

Yes, if the child fits it. A 16-inch bass drum kit is sized for roughly ages 5 to 9. It is a real acoustic kit, so a beginner learns on proper drums rather than a toy.

How loud is it?

As loud as any acoustic drum kit. There is no volume knob or headphone jack, so plan for a garage, basement or practice room, and consider dampening pads for apartment use.

What comes in the box?

The five pieces listed: bass drum, mounted tom, floor tom and cymbals, plus the stands and hardware needed to mount them. Sticks and a throne are usually not included on kits at this price, so check before buying.

Can an adult play it?

Only briefly. The 16-inch bass and small toms are built for children; an adult will find the kit cramped and the tones high.

When is it cheapest?

Target lists it at $204.99 as of November 7, 2026, and it is the only new price on record. Watch for holiday sales and back-to-school promotions, when kids' instrument kits typically drop.

Where is the Kids Drum Set 5-Piece 16 Inch Beginner Acoustic Drum Kit cheapest?
