Is the Ultra Power worth it over the Artisan?

If you bake cakes, cookies and frosting in small batches, the Ultra Power covers it for less money. Step up to the Artisan if you make bread often or need a 5-quart bowl and more power.

Can it knead bread dough?

Yes, with the included dough hook, but keep batches small. The 300-watt motor is better suited to soft doughs than stiff, low-hydration bread.

What attachments fit this mixer?

It uses KitchenAid's front power hub, so pasta makers, food grinders and spiralizers designed for tilt-head mixers fit. Check that an attachment lists tilt-head compatibility.

How many batches does the 4.5-quart bowl hold?

Roughly 4 dozen cookies, 2 loaves of bread or 3 cups of flour for cake batter. Double batches of stiff dough will overload it.

KitchenAid mixers see the deepest discounts around Black Friday and holiday sales, and older colors often drop further than new ones.

Our take on the KitchenAid Ultra Power 4.5 Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer

The KitchenAid Ultra Power is a 4.5-quart tilt-head stand mixer with a 300-watt motor and 10 speeds. It ships with a stainless steel bowl, wire whip, dough hook and flat beater, and its tilt-head design lifts the bowl clear for easy access. It is the smaller, lighter step below KitchenAid's 5-quart Artisan, and it accepts the same front-hub pasta and grinder attachments. It suits small households and occasional bakers more than heavy weekly bread makers.
