Is the Kobalt 24V brushless drill worth it at $64.99?

At $64.99 at A-OK Pawn and Jewelry as of November 4, 2026, it is a low price for a brushless 24V drill kit with a battery and charger. Check that the listing is the drill kit and not the impact wrench/driver model 4913878 that shares the page.

How does it compare with the brushed Kobalt 24V drill?

The brushless motor is more efficient and should give longer runtime and motor life, and this model adds a two-speed gearbox. The brushed version is cheaper but has less torque and no brushless durability advantage.

How long does the 2.0 Ah battery last?

Expect roughly 100 to 200 small holes or a few dozen screws per charge in softwood, less in hardwood or with hole saws. For bigger jobs, buy a second or larger 24V Kobalt battery.

Does it use the same batteries as other Kobalt 24V tools?

Yes. It takes Kobalt 24V lithium-ion packs, so it shares batteries with the rest of the Kobalt 24V line. Batteries are sold mainly at Lowe's.

When is the best time to buy it?

Kobalt drills usually drop around Black Friday, Father's Day and spring tool events. At $64.99 it is already below typical kit pricing, so waiting is unlikely to save much.

Our take on the Kobalt 24-Volt 1/2-in Keyless Brushless Cordless Drill

The Kobalt 24-Volt 1/2-in Keyless Brushless Drill is a cordless drill/driver with a brushless motor, a two-speed metal gearbox and a 1/2-in all-metal keyless chuck. Kobalt rates it at up to 2,000 RPM with 850 in-lb of torque, and it ships with one 2.0 Ah 24V lithium-ion battery, a charger, bit holders, a belt clip and a soft bag. Its best new price is $64.99 at A-OK Pawn and Jewelry as of November 4, 2026, with four stores listing it new. That is a low entry point for a brushless 24V kit, though the single 2.0 Ah pack is small for heavy drilling.
