Pros
  • High-speed brushless motor dries hair faster than cheap AC-motor dryers
  • Ionic conditioning helps cut frizz and static
  • Diffuser included, so no extra purchase for curls
  • 1,400 watts draws less power than many 1,800–2,000W dryers
  • Matte black finish looks more premium than the price class
Cons
  • 1,400 watts means less raw heat than full-size salon dryers
  • Fewer heat and speed settings than the Swift line
  • No magnetic styling attachments beyond the diffuser
  • Durability of the motor and heating element is unproven long term

Questions and answers

Is the Laifen Special worth it over the Laifen Swift?
The Special costs less and keeps the high-speed motor and ionic drying. The Swift adds more power, more settings and magnetic attachments. Choose the Special if you want fast drying on a budget; choose the Swift if you style often.
Does it work for curly hair?
Yes. A diffuser is included, and the ionic function helps limit frizz. Use the lowest heat and speed with the diffuser for best results.
How loud is it?
It is quieter than many cheap dryers at low speed but gets noticeably loud at the top setting, which is normal for high-speed motors.
What comes in the box?
The dryer, a diffuser and a concentrator nozzle. Extra attachments are sold separately.
Is 1,400 watts enough to dry thick hair?
Yes, because the brushless motor moves more air than wattage alone suggests. Thick hair dries quickly, though very coarse hair may need the highest heat setting.
When is it cheapest?
Laifen dryers usually drop during major sales events and brand promotions. Check the price history on this page to see whether the current price is near its low.
What do buyers say about the Laifen Special Hair Dryer?
