Our take on the Lenovo 16" Legion Pro 7i Gaming Laptop

The Legion Pro 7i is Lenovo's top-tier 16-inch gaming laptop, here built with an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, an RTX 5090 with 24 GB of GDDR7 and 32 GB of DDR5-6400. The 16-inch OLED panel runs 2560 x 1600 at 240 Hz with G-Sync and covers 100% DCI-P3, so it suits both fast games and color work. It is a large, heavy desktop replacement, not a thin-and-light. The best new price is $4,699 at B&H Photo-Video-Audio as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.

Questions and answers

Is the Legion Pro 7i with RTX 5090 worth $4,699?
If you want the fastest laptop GPU with 24 GB of VRAM and a 240 Hz OLED screen, few machines match it. If you mostly play at 1080p or 1440p, a cheaper RTX 5080 or 5070 Ti model saves a lot of money for little real-world loss.
How does it compare with the previous Legion Pro 7i generation?
The jump is the RTX 5090 with GDDR7 memory and the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus, plus a 240 Hz OLED option. Expect a meaningful gain in ray-traced and 4K gaming over older RTX 40-series models, but the chassis and size stay similar.
How is the battery life?
Short when gaming. A 5090 and a 240 Hz OLED panel draw heavily, so expect a couple of hours unplugged under load and only a few hours for light browsing. Keep the power brick nearby for serious sessions.
Can I upgrade the RAM and storage?
The 2 TB SSD is user-replaceable through the bottom panel. RAM upgrades depend on the exact configuration; check whether the 32 GB is soldered or in SO-DIMM slots before buying if you plan to add more later.
What comes in the box?
The laptop, a power adapter and cable, and standard paperwork. It does not include a mouse, headset or laptop bag, so budget for those separately.
When is the best time to buy it?
With only one store listing it new at $4,699 as of November 4, 2026, discounts are rare. Watch for Black Friday and back-to-school sales, and check back on price history before buying.
Where is the Lenovo 16" Legion Pro 7i Gaming Laptop cheapest?
At B&H Photo-Video-Audio, for $4,699.00, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Lenovo 16" Legion Pro 7i Gaming Laptop?
Rated 4.6 out of 5 from 371 ratings.
