Is the Lenovo Chromebook Duet Gen 9 worth it?

For web browsing, notes, video and light schoolwork, yes: you get a touchscreen tablet, keyboard and stand in one package. If you need Windows apps, video editing or heavy multitasking, spend more on a laptop with 8 GB RAM.

How is it different from the original Duet?

The Gen 9 moves to a 10.95-inch 1920 x 1200 display, a MediaTek Kompanio 838, a full-metal chassis and two USB-C ports. It keeps the detachable keyboard-and-stand design of earlier Duets.

How long does the battery last?

Lenovo markets all-day battery life, which in practice means roughly a full school or work day of browsing and video at moderate brightness. Expect less when streaming at high brightness or using the keyboard backlight.

Can I use it as a tablet without the keyboard?

Yes. The folio keyboard and stand detach, leaving a 10.95-inch touchscreen tablet. ChromeOS switches to a touch-friendly layout when the keyboard is removed.

Does it have a headphone jack?

No. The only wired connections are the two USB-C ports, so use USB-C headphones, a USB-C adapter or Bluetooth.

Chromebooks like this typically drop during back-to-school sales, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and when a new generation is announced. Check the price history before buying outside those windows.
