Our take on the Leonlite LED Security Light Motion Sensor Flood Light

The Leonlite LED Security Light is a hardwired outdoor flood light that switches on when its 180-degree motion sensor detects movement. It uses about 25 watts of LED power, a fraction of what an equivalent halogen flood draws, and its heads can be aimed to cover a driveway, side yard or back door. No current price was supplied, so compare any quote against the recent range before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Leonlite motion flood light worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you want a low-wattage LED replacement for an old halogen flood and can handle hardwiring. Check the price against similar 25 W motion floods before deciding.
How bright is a 25 W LED flood light?
LED floods at this wattage typically produce light comparable to a much higher-wattage halogen, but the exact lumen output for this model is not stated. Confirm lumens on the box before buying.
Does it need special wiring?
Yes. It is a hardwired fixture, so it needs a switched outdoor circuit, usually installed by an electrician. It is not a plug-in unit.
Can I adjust where the motion sensor points?
The sensor covers 180 degrees and the light heads are aimable on most floods of this type. Point the sensor away from the street to cut false triggers.
When is the best time to buy it?
Security lights often drop around fall and holiday sales. Track the price history and buy when it sits near the low end of its recent range.
